This section takes us on a journey through time to rediscover, with our children, films and artists who made their mark on a period or style in film history. From silent comedies by such directors as Chaplin and Keaton, to classical musicals such as Mary Poppins, not forgetting the 1980s hit movie Back to the Future.
FILM-CONCERT TRIO OF COMICS

My First Festival and the Catalan Film Institute have invited Le Philharmonique de la Roquette, a French company that specialises in composing original music and playing live to accompany film showings live, to present two of their own film-concerts. In the Trio de còmics film-concert, we can enjoy three shorts by three of the silent movie greats. Chaplin, Lloyd and Keaton will take us through floods, epic chases and other surprising adventures.
Run time = 70’
Silent, with intertitles subtitled in Spanish and live dubbing.

The Immigrant, Charles Chaplin, USA, 1917, 25’. Silent, with intertitles in Spanish.
In this film, Chaplin is an immigrant on his way by ship from Europe to the United States in search of a better future. On board, he meets a girl who is travelling with her widowed mother. Attracted by her beauty, Chaplin gives her his meal. Later, discovering that someone has robbed her mother of all her money, he gives the girl his winnings at cards. Having reached New York, Chaplin goes to have a meal at a restaurant. There he meets the girl again, and asks her to join him, but will have to find a way of paying the bill without money.

A young man in New York has exasperated his father because of his constant carousing and irresponsibility, so his father sends him to his uncle's ranch in the west. The young man arrives in Piute Pass, and his troubles begin: the town is being terrorized by Tiger Lip Tompkins and his gang, the Masked Angels. Then the Easterner loses his money gambling and ends up being chased and having to face the gang alone. There, too, he befriends a young woman whose father is being held captive by Tompkins, and decides to help her. Finally, he and the girl escape their pursuers…

A butterfly collector unwittingly wanders into an Indian encampment while chasing a butterfly. This tribe has resolved to kill the first white man who enters their encampment because they are on the warpath against the oil tycoons who are trying to force them from their land. Our hero ingeniously escapes all their efforts to kill him and ends up joining in their fight against the oil companies.
